OMNY varicose vein laser therapy treatments are safe and highly effective. The success rate of our laser varicose vein ablation is virtually 100%. The rate of long term closure being approximately 95%. The risks of the procedure and side-effects are very minimal. Less than 1-5% of our patients experience infection, bleeding and DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis).

There are many US FDA approved options, where all are performed by our OMNY physicians. Laser treatment is the most common types of treatments for venous insufficiency. This method offers relief without requiring incisions, hospitalization, or long recovery periods.

Our Endovenous laser treatment is considered non-surgical as it does not require incisions or general anesthesia. One form of endovascular treatment we perform is through endovenous laser ablation. This innovative procedure is minimally invasive because it is performed entirely inside of the blood vessels. You come to our office for treatment for varicose veins, not to the hospital.

Our varicose vein laser treatment is an outpatient procedure performed in the office with the use of local anesthesia to numb the area. No hospital stays are needed. The procedure is quick with an average time of less than 15 minutes and you are in and out of the office that same day.

Treatment for varicose veins have made great advances since first introduced. Previously, spider vein treatment required admission to the hospital so that the veins could be removed surgically. While surgery is effective, it can be very painful. There are also multiple risk factors associated with vascular surgery in addition to the inconvenience of being hospitalized. Fortunately, the advent of endovascular therapy has helped varicose treatment evolve into a much safer, less invasive procedure, with fewer side effects.

Older varicose vein treatment options required incisions to access the veins. Laser treatment, on the other hand, is a lot different than vein surgery performed in the past. When this innovative method is performed, a small thin tube or laser fiber is inserted through the patient’s skin and into the affected vein. Laser energy is then sent through the tube and into the vein causing the vein to close. The body will then reroute blood flow to healthy veins, which will improve circulation.

After the procedure, your leg will be wrapped with an Ace bandage. You will be required to wear compression stockings during the day until your first post operative ultrasound. Compression stockings are an ultrasound essential to exclude the possibility of a blood clot, a rare complication, and to ensure closure of the vein being treated. Some soreness and bruising in the treated area is to be expected. Over the first two weeks, patients may experience a pulling sensation in the leg as the vein slightly swells, heals and closes. After a few weeks, patients should notice significant improvement in their symptoms. No rigorous activities are recommended until 10 days after the procedure. Advil and/or Tylenol may be used for any mild pain that is experienced.

The most common symptom of varicose is swelling, cramping and achy legs. If left untreated, varicose vein conditions can cause excess blood leaking into leg tissue. Over periods of time this will result in dark and discolored skin. Blood clots as well as other more serious complications such as strokes can be caused by varicose veins. People who suffer from varicose veins have an increased risk of deep vein thrombosis, a dangerous form of blood-clot that can be life threatening.
